Frequently asked questions

How much work time does the training take?

LTT will negotiate a flexible arrangement with each employer.

Do we have to pay training fees?

The fees are based on the current State Government’s statutory “Fees and Charges Guidelines”. LTT only invoices for fees once the incentives have been received, resulting in a no risk, cash flow positive solution for employers. Your organisation benefits financially for each eligible employee trained under the Australian Apprenticeships scheme.

When do courses start?

LTT delivers flexible training according to your workplace needs, so courses can start at a time that suits you. Employers are encouraged to act quickly to pursue the training, to take full advantage of Federal and State Government incentives.

How is the accreditation provided?

LTT provides vocational education and training to a wide range of learners from entry-level trainees to existing laboratory workers. Accreditation is gained through the following means:

Skills Recognition

Experienced employees can achieve a whole or part qualification through Skills Recognition. The candidate provides evidence of skills and knowledge for each Unit of Competency in the qualification.

Skills Recognition is an assessment or evaluation of the skills and knowledge you have in your trade. This includes formal and informal training, work experience and general life experience.

Skills recognition enables trainees to gain:

  • A nationally recognised qualification without completing the entire training program
  • Formal recognition of their skills and knowledge, increasing the chance of career progression.

As an RTO, LabTech Training (LTT) will apply skills recognition in two ways:

Traineeships

A whole qualification can be achieved through a traineeship programme. To be eligible for a Traineeship programme, the candidate must fulfill certain criteria, including age, length of current employment and previous qualifications. A tailored training programme is devised for each trainee.

Combination Training and Skills Recognition

Employees who are not eligible for a traineeship can achieve a whole or part qualification using a combination of skills recognition and further training.

How is the training delivered?

The training will be totally on-the-job, with the candidate's day-to-day work used as the basis for skills development. The knowledge component, which is addressed using flexible self-paced resources, will require some off-the-job reading and training.

What is the assessment process?

The assessment process requires LTT to collect adequate evidence that is valid, reliable, authentic, current and sufficient and then make judgments against expected competency and workplace standards. Assessment will often involve a practical demonstration, written or oral test and a report from the supervisor. It may also involve samples of work, letters of validation from employers, and internal or external third party reports.
